Strathspey Weather
Grantown Archives - 1966 to 1991

From 1966 to 1991, Basil Dunlop was the official weather recorder for Grantown-on-Spey, three miles from the location of the current "Strathspey Weather" station at Cromdale. I feel sure that his records, extracts of which are presented here as monthly summaries, will be of great interest to local residents and climatologists alike. Whilst I have the luxury of having the Met Office equipment within my own garden, alongside my own electronic station, I can only imagine the conditions that Basil must have endured in his daily early-morning trips  to maintain his records, through howling gales and rain, to the blasts of Arctic weather that Strathspey experiences from time to time. I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to make the fruits of his labour available to all on the web, and I am indebted to him for his kind provision of these records, making them available to all.

Please note that these records remain the copyright of Basil Dunlop and
